The Family Education Collaborative offers a wide variety of education and support groups. Past and present groups are listed below.  Feel free to send an email to Vanessa to register for any of our current classes or with any recommendations for future classes!

Teen Pregnancy and Parenting Support Group

Tuesdays from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, group begins Tuesday, February 5, 2013.

Are you a pregnant or parenting teen mom or dad? Are you looking for some support? The YWCA New Hampshire can help! Join other pregnant and parenting teens to share your experiences and receive and give support.

Free childcare and snacks will be provided!

Circle of Parents and Playgroup:

Wednesdays 10AM-12:15PM

A place to discuss parental concerns and connect with other parents for support. Share information, experiences, and learn about resources. Childcare and refreshments are provided.

1-2-3-4 Parents! Parenting children ages 1 to 4

A three session class - starts Thursday February 7th and continues February 14th and 21st.  
10:00 am - 12:00 pm 

This program teaches parents the fundamental attitudes and skills necessary for parenting young children. Parent education can be a key means of support and guidance through these difficult challenges!

Certificates will be provided for full attendance

You Make the Difference Parent-Child Interaction Program

Thursday, March 7, 2013
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The You Make the Difference Parent-Child Interaction Program (YMTD) is a community-based, general education program that encourages positive parent-child interactions. Using a combination of small group sessions and individual parent and child practice sessions, YMTD helps parents learn how to foster and enrich their young child’s social, language and literacy development during everyday experiences.

Learn ways to feel more confident as a parent. Gain understanding of your child's behavior. Learn ways to reduce your and your child's stress.

Have you ever struggled with stress and wondered how to better manage it? Have you ever wondered how you can make time to complete all the things on your "to do" list?

La violencia domestica no solo tiene que ser física. Hay personas que son victimas de abuso emocional, verbal o abuso sexual, estos también son bienvenidos. Las victimas encuentran fuerza y valor al encontrase con otras personas que an pasado por la experiencia de violencia domestica. Nuestro grupo les ayuda a romper ese aislamiento y les ofrece apoyo y las destrezas necesarias para así moverse más allá de la victimización.

Healthy Relationships 101
8 week group
An eight week therapeutic group that provides a confidential safe environment where you can prepare youself for the relationship you want. Make healthy relationship decisions; avoid the mistakes of the past; identify red flags; communicate effectively; make changes in yourself that will lead to better, more fulfilling relationships in the future.

How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk(ette)
5 week group
This program is a five-session, non-religious curriculum. The program is an elaboration of the Relationship Attachment Model (RAM) and can easily be divided into two major sections: the head and the heart.
Session 1 is an overview of the RAM that explains the importance of building safe relationships while knowing what to look for in a dating partner. Parents may attend this session.
Session 2 and 3 develop the five key areas to explore in a partner in order to have an accurate understanding of what that person would be like in a long-term relationship. This is referred to as “head knowledge” in the RAM.
The last two sessions, 4 and 5, explain the “heart knowledge” of the RAM- the dynamics of trust, reliance, commitment and sexual touch.

Incarcerated Partners
Ongoing weekly, 90 minute groups
Give and receive support from other women with similar experiences. Receive assistance finding answers to questions about the incarceration and release process.

LifeSkills
10 week group
Lifeskills is a gender-based, decision making and values clarification course that seeks to increase effective interpersonal communication, listening skills, peer resistance and peer negotiation skills, coping and problem solving strategies, and an awareness of the role that media messages and peer pressure play in decision-making.
Lifeskills is an activity and discussion oriented class offered to 7th and 8th grade girls during the school day as part of their schedule in the Manchester Middle Schools. The simple but focused activities will offer opportunities to develop teamwork and self- esteem.

Making $$ Work: A group for Latinas
5 week group
A FREE group facilitated in Spanish that teaches skills in money management.

Nurturing Parenting
8 week group
A FREE parenting series for parents and children ages 3-8. Bring your children with you, they will have their own program!! Understand child development; practice bonding and communicating; learn positive discipline techniques; learn about setting family rules and routines.

PACT Peer Action Changing Tomorrow
10 week group
Peer Action Changing Tomorrow (PACT) is a 10-week co-ed peer educator training proram offered to high school students. Teens meet once a week to discuss important topics such as media literacy, healthy relationships, financial planning, and much more! Join to learn about resources in your community and become a consultant for your peers on tough issues and decisions.

Support Group for Fathers and Father Figures

Ongoing weekly group, one hour
Need ideas about how to interact with your child? Looking for great activity and game ideas to engage your child? Learn ways to deal with the stresses of parenthood. Talk, listen, or just eat. Free pizza provided.

PASTA Parenting the Second Time Around
Caring for your grandchild or relative child is hard work. You can’t do everything. Do something for you!! This is an education and supportive group for Grandparents and other relatives raising children.
